The Black Market Trick

Unscrupulous sellers take grey granite, dye it with oil/epoxy/charcoal, and sell it as "Absolute Black". A few years later, it fades to grey.

The Acetone Test

Take a white rag soaked in Acetone (or nail polish remover). Rub the surface of the Absolute Black slab vigorously.
Result: If the rag turns black, it's dyed. If the rag stays clean, it's natural stone. Real granite doesn't shed color.
