Cobblestone Layouts: Fan, Stack, or Random Bond?

Design with Strength

The pattern you choose for your granite cobbles isn't just about looks; it affects the road's structural integrity.

European Fan (Bogen)

This is the classic old-world look seen in Paris or Rome. The interlocking arcs distribute the load of a turning vehicle wheel in all directions. It is the strongest pattern for driveways with heavy SUVs or steep inclines.

Random Bond (Running Bond)

Looks like brickwork. It is easier to lay and offers a clean, modern aesthetic. It works well for straight paths but is slightly weaker against the twisting force of tires.

Stack Bond (Grid)

The stones are lined up in a perfect grid. Warning: This is the weakest structure. It is prone to shifting under car tires. We recommend this pattern only for pedestrian walkways using Steel Grey Cobbles.
