The #1 Dispute in the Industry

A customer receives a slab and says "It's cracked!" You look at it and say "That's nature." Who is right?

The Fissure (Natural)

A fissure is an elongated crystalline gap formed millions of years ago. It is filled with natural minerals.
The Test: Run your fingernail over it. If it feels smooth or only slightly textured but does not "catch," it is a fissure. It does not weaken the stone.

The Crack (Defect)

A crack is a break caused by stress (mining, transport, or handling).
The Test: Your fingernail will distinctly "catch" on the jagged edge. Light will often reflect differently on both sides of a crack.

Ruvello Policy

We do not ship cracks. Period. Fissures are part of the stone's soul, especially in exotic materials like Alaska White.
