Curb Appeal Economics
Asphalt (Tarmac): It is cheap and fast to lay. But UV rays oxidize the binder, turning it grey and brittle. Weeds grow through cracks. Oils dissolve it. You need to reseal it every 3 years and replace it in 15 years.
Granite Cobbles
Using Steel Grey Cobbles costs 3x more initially. But:
Durability: Granite has a compressive strength of 200MPa. It will never crack under the weight of an SUV.
Maintenance: Zero. No sealing. No painting. It gets better with age as traffic polishes the tops.
Permeability: If laid on sand, it allows rainwater to drain, preventing puddles and flooding.
Verdict: If you are flipping a house, use asphalt. If you are building a legacy home, use granite.
