The Art of the Join
Granite slabs are usually 9-10 feet long. If your kitchen run is longer, you will have a seam. A bad seam ruins the look. A good seam is felt but barely seen.
Minimizing Visibility
- Placement: Never place a seam in the middle of a visual focal point. Put it at the sink (where it's short) or near a corner.
- Color Match: The installer must mix the epoxy on-site to match the stone's base color perfectly. For a complex stone like Alaska Gold, they may need to use clear epoxy or mix multiple colors to match the vein flowing across the cut.
- Tightness: Using a 'Seam Setter' tool (suction cups) pulls the slabs tight while the glue dries, ensuring a hairline gap.
