Granite is heavy (18 lbs/sqft for 3cm). If you have a breakfast bar overhang on your island, it can snap off if someone leans on it.

The Rule of Thumb

• Under 10 Inches (3cm stone): Usually safe without support (if 2/3 of the slab is anchored).
• Over 10 Inches: You NEED support.

Hidden Support: Instead of ugly knee-knocking corbels, route out the plywood sub-top and install flat Steel Support Bars. This creates a floating look for your Viscon White island while safely holding the weight.
