The Inspection Protocol
How do you know if a slab is sound? Use these two simple tests:
1. The Sound Test
Take a metal coin or key and tap the slab. A solid, healthy slab will ring like a bell. A cracked slab (even if the crack is hidden) will sound dull and hollow, like tapping on wood.
2. The Water Test
Splash water on the surface. Hairline cracks will absorb the water instantly and turn dark, revealing flaws that might be hidden by surface polish or wax. At Ruvello, we perform these tests on every bundle of Black Galaxy before packing.
