Polished granite stairs look luxurious, but they can be a slip hazard. For public spaces, safety is the priority.
The Anti-Slip Solution
We fabricate stair treads with Anti-Slip Grooves—usually 3 or 4 lines cut into the front edge of the step. Alternatively, we can sandblast a 2-inch strip to provide grip.
Visual Contrast
For the visually impaired, it is crucial to see where the step ends. Designers often inlay a strip of Black Galaxy into a lighter step (like Platinum White) to create a high-contrast visibility strip. This meets safety codes in many international jurisdictions.
