The Battle of the Blacks
Both are volcanic, but they behave differently.
Basalt
Very fine grain, often pitch black. However, it can fade to grey quickly in the sun and is sometimes brittle. It can suffer from 'micro-cracking'.
Granite
Absolute Black Granite is coarser but structurally superior. It holds up better to heavy vehicular traffic and freeze-thaw cycles. It is less likely to crack under impact. For a driveway that lasts 50 years, choose Granite.
