Strength vs. Soul
In Indian temple architecture, materials are chosen for spiritual and structural reasons.
- Granite: Used for the plinth, pillars, and outer walls because it can bear massive loads and withstand centuries of monsoon rain. Stones like Classic Red are common.
- Marble: Used for the inner sanctum, flooring, and idols because it is soft enough to carve intricate expressions and feels cool to the touch for barefoot devotees.
