The Invisible Grid

Grout lines are necessary, but they shouldn't be the focal point. When laying a luxury floor like Indian Statuario (white with grey veins), the grout choice defines the final look.

The Options

  • White Grout: Creates a seamless, "monolithic" look initially. The Trap: White sanded grout is porous. It absorbs mop water and dirt. Within 6 months, it turns a dingy grey/brown in traffic areas, making the floor look dirty even when clean.
  • Light Grey / Silver: The professional's choice. It mimics the grey veins in the marble. It is forgiving of dust and wear. It frames the tile slightly but looks cleaner for longer.
  • Beige/Cream: Only use this for warm stones like Fantasy Brown. Never use beige on a cool white marble; it looks like a stain.

The Epoxy Solution

If you demand a pure white seamless look, you must use Epoxy Grout. Unlike cement grout, epoxy is made of plastic resins. It is waterproof, stain-proof, and never changes color. It costs 3x more and is harder to apply (it sets fast), but for a high-end marble foyer, it is the only way to ensure the floor stays pristine forever.
