Drilling the Hardest Stone

Need to add a soap dispenser or RO tap? You can't use a masonry bit.

The Method

  1. Diamond Core Bit: Essential. A hole saw with diamond grit.
  2. Water Dam: Build a ring of putty around the hole and fill with water. This cools the bit.
  3. Speed: Go slow. Let the weight of the drill do the work. Don't push.
  4. Support: If drilling Alaska White, ensure the stone is supported underneath to prevent 'blowout' when the drill breaks through.
