Trust, But Verify

Natural stone is imperfect by definition. But there is a difference between a 'natural feature' and a 'defect'. Here is how we inspect slabs at Ruvello.

1. The Water Test (For Cracks)

Splash water on the slab surface. Water darkens the stone but penetrates deeper into cracks. A hairline fissure will remain dark longer than the surrounding stone as it dries.

2. The Acetone Test (For Dye)

Unscrupulous factories dye grey stones black.
The Test: Rub the surface with a cloth soaked in Acetone. If the cloth turns black, reject the slab. It is dyed.

3. The Side Angle Check

Look at the slab reflection from a 45-degree angle. Dull spots indicate poor polishing or soft patches (mica) that didn't take the shine.

Ruvello's Guarantee

We perform these checks on every single bundle. We also offer Live Video Inspection via WhatsApp for our overseas clients.
