The Global Duopoly
If you are a wholesaler in the USA, 80% of your stock likely comes from these two nations. Here is how they compare in 2025.
1. Geology & Color
Brazil: Famous for "Magma" styles. Yellows, Blues, and complex Quartzites (Taj Mahal). The stones are often "softer" granites (Schist).
India: Famous for Hardness. Deep Blacks, Reds, and Galaxy styles. Indian granite is geologically denser and less prone to breakage.
2. Logistics to USA
Brazil to East Coast: Faster transit (approx 15-20 days).
India to East Coast: Approx 25-30 days via Suez.
However, Indian ocean freight rates have historically been more stable due to the sheer volume of trade.
3. Pricing
India wins on the low-to-mid range (Level 1 & 2 stones). Brazil dominates the ultra-exotic ($100+/sqft) market. A balanced inventory needs both.
