Stone for Eternity
The monument industry has stricter requirements than the construction industry. A headstone must withstand freezing winters, acid rain, and UV sun for centuries without fading. India is the world's primary source for these "Monument Grade" granites.
1. Absolute Black (The Global Standard)
Origin: Khammam/Warangal.
Why: It provides the highest contrast for laser etching and sandblasted lettering. When polished, it is a black mirror.
Quality Check: For monuments, you must buy "Super Premium." Commercial grade with white lines is unacceptable for memorials.
2. Vizag Blue (Bahama Blue)
Origin: Andhra Pradesh.
Why: A swirling mix of violet, blue, and grey. It is popular in the UK and Germany because the busy pattern hides rain streaks and bird droppings better than black stone. It has a noble, calming appearance.
3. Imperial Red (New Rubin)
Origin: Jhansi.
Why: Red symbolizes life and power. It is the hardest red granite in the world. It is the top choice for large mausoleums in Russia and Eastern Europe.
4. Himalayan Blue
Origin: South India.
Why: Features distinct orange/reddish streaks in a blue background. It creates unique, artistic headstones that stand out in a cemetery.
