The 3D Facade
Modern architecture is moving away from flat painted render. It's all about texture, shadow, and natural materials. Stone cladding transforms a plain box into a landmark.
Trend 1: The Linear Slat Look
Architects are using narrow strips of stone (CNC grooved) to mimic timber slats.
The Stone: Teakwood Sandstone. It has the color and grain of wood but is fireproof and rot-proof. It adds warmth to concrete structures.
Trend 2: Split-Face (Rock Face)
Rustic, rugged, and random. Strips of stone are split by hand to reveal the raw interior crystals.
The Stone: Kandla Grey or Black Limestone.
Application: Perfect for garden walls, entrance pillars, or the chimney breast. The rough texture catches the sunlight, changing the look throughout the day.
Trend 3: Large Format Monolith
Using massive porcelain slabs to create a sleek, seamless skin.
The Stone: Cementine Grey.
Application: Contemporary commercial buildings. It looks like poured concrete but stays cleaner.
Installation Note
For textured cladding, always use a mechanical clip system or high-strength polymer adhesive. Ensure the wall is waterproofed behind the stone.
