Understanding Stone Finishes: Polished, Honed, Leathered

Texture Matters

The same stone can look completely different depending on the finish. Here is the Ruvello guide to choosing the right one:

• Polished: High gloss. It seals the pores and enhances color depth. Best for indoor flooring and Absolute Black countertops.
• Honed: A matte, satin finish. It softens the color and hides scratches. Excellent for high-traffic areas where a glossy floor might show wear paths.
• Leathered (Lapatro): A textured, pebbly feel created by diamond brushes. It hides fingerprints perfectly. We love this on Steel Grey granite.
• Flamed: A rough, non-slip texture created by bursting the crystals with heat. Essential for outdoor pavers and pool surrounds.
